Said Business School at the University of Oxford, with support from MacArthur Foundation, conducted a review of academic research on impact investing, examining current literature, identifying key gaps, and outlining a research agenda to better inform policy, practice and market development. The resulting report, The Landscape of Social Impact Investment Research: Trends and Opportunities, identifies a number of ideas to strengthen the contributions of academic research towards building more robust practice of impact investing. The primary aim of this white paper is to provide a meta-analysis of the current research landscape in SII and, then, to propose a future agenda for academic research. The findings in this paper are based on a comprehensive literature review and extensive consultation with over 80 academics and practitioners involved in SII globally.
