With 80% of investors citing lack of research as a perceived challenge in the development of the impact investing industry, participation in the Impact Investor Survey represents one of the most impactful ways for investors to help shape the industry.

Powered by the survey, the 2025 State of the Market and the 2024 Sizing the Impact Investing Market reports were downloaded over 17,000 times, highlighting the strong demand for investor insights. Survey participants will gain early access to key findings through an exclusive GIIN webinar.
Eligibility criteria for participation
Asset owners and or asset managers that make impact investments are encouraged to participate in the survey. Accoridng to the GIIN, impact investing is defined as investing to generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.
To complete the survey efficiently, it’s helpful to have the following on hand:
- Your organization’s 2025 financial statements
- Your organization’s 2025 impact data and/or impact report
- Organizational demographic information
- Data on your organization's geographic, thematic, asset class and business stage allocations
- Data on the volume and sources of capital deployed for impact investments
- Information about your organization's impact measurement and management (IMM) practices
- Details on your organization’s financial and impact performance in 2025
- Insights on your organization’s perspectives regarding industry progress and key challenges

When can we begin the 2026 survey?
The survey window opens on January 5 at 10 AM (EST) and closes on March 20, at 11:59 PM (EST).

What if my organization does not have 2025 data ready?
If your organization does not have 2025 data at the time of the survey, please provide the most recent data available. You can indicate any gaps in the data where applicable via email, or at the very end of the survey, and our team will work with the information provided.

How is data confidentiality maintained?
All responses are aggregated and anonymized to avoid any individual organization being identified in the final reports. Additionally, data is stored securely and only accessible to authorized personnel involved in the analysis and reporting process.
