PCV InSight, with support of the Surdna Foundation, released, Moving Beyond Job Creation: Defining and Measuring the Creation of Quality Jobs. This discussion paper is the first in a series of research under PCV’s new vision to make quality job creation the norm, and is intended to support Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), the broader impact investing industry, policymakers, and business owners. This discussion paper seeks to answer two important questions at the center of CDFIs’ efforts to create quality jobs: 1) what is a quality job, and 2) how can CDFIs measure job quality? The discussion paper is the result of a year and a half of extensive research on the topic of quality job creation, to identify and clearly define the core components of a quality job. In doing so, the paper aims to help clients measure and better understand their impact, making them better positioned to make more effective investments that support good jobs for workers, businesses, and communities.
