Initiated by the China Alliance of Social Value Investment (CASVI) and co-developed by 68 leading experts from 42 domestic and international organizations, the report Discovering “Social Value 99” in China: A Social Value Assessment Report on A-share Listed Companies (2017) introduces a quantitative social value assessment model that screens CSI 300 companies against economic, social, environmental and governance factors to create a ranking of China’s top 99 A-share listed companies, the Social Value 99 (SV 99). The Social Value 99 Simulation Index, comprised of the SV 99 companies, outperformed many mainstream stock exchange indexes (SSE 50, CSI 300, SSE Composite Index and CSI 500) in the 18-month-long back-testing period between June 2016 and November 2017. Additionally, the report reveals a correlation between “Doing Well and Doing Good” and examines the mechanism by which social value is created.
