Letter From GIIN CEO and Co-Founder, Amit Bouri

Movements are never carried by one person alone. They're built in relay, passed hand to hand, strengthened by everyone who picks them up and runs with everything they have. Today, I want to talk about that handoff, because it's one that this community and our organization will navigate together in the months ahead.

As I shared earlier this month, founding the GIIN in 2009 and leading the organization has been the privilege of my professional life and has completely reshaped my outlook on work. I've had the opportunity to build something truly meaningful alongside thoughtful, brilliant and genuine people who believe that there's a better way to meet the needs of society and the planet.

This is what impact looks like in field building work: a long view without a single name attached to an achievement, but a foundation strong enough for others to build on it. The measure of what we've built isn't whether it depends on any one of us — it's whether it doesn't. Over the past 17 years, that's exactly what we've built at the GIIN: a network of organizations and people, steadfast in their commitment to making the world a better place.

I’ll remain fully engaged as CEO through the end of the year, and I'm committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for the team, the Board and the incoming leader who will carry this work forward. And until then, there's still real work to do together in the months ahead, including at the GIIN Impact Forum in Amsterdam this October, where I’ll be speaking, moderating and catching up with all of you.
