Dear GIIN Community,

It is with both gratitude and heartfelt appreciation that the Global Impact Investing Network today announces its Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Amit Bouri, will be transitioning from CEO as part of a planned succession process.

The Board is grateful to Amit for his visionary leadership and extraordinary contributions that have built an organization and shaped a global movement and industry. Having cofounded the GIIN in 2009 and serving as CEO since 2015, it’s now a natural and responsible moment for a structured and forward-looking succession process that positions the GIIN for continued success.

Over the course of his career, Amit has played a central role in advancing impact investing from a niche concept to a widespread investment approach. Under his leadership, the GIIN has helped to build and steward the impact investing field which has mobilized trillions of dollars to solutions that improve livelihoods and the health of our planet. He’s been at the helm while the GIIN has built a strong global membership base, developed essential tools and frameworks to help impact investors do their jobs well, conducted industry-leading research, produced world-class events, and much more. He’s also become one of the field’s foremost voices and thought leaders, regularly sought after for his insights on impact investing and how to rethink the way global problems get solved.

Amit will continue to serve as CEO until the end of the year and he will remain actively engaged to support a smooth and thoughtful transition until then. The Board has partnered with Russell Reynolds Associates, a global executive search firm with deep experience in both our sector and CEO transitions, to help us find a leader who’s genuinely committed to the GIIN’s mission and ready to lead the organization into its next chapter.

Today’s world is very different from the world we were in when the GIIN started. Discourse has evolved from whether investors should pursue impact to how they do so in an incredibly dynamic and tumultuous time. It’s a pivotal moment for the impact investing industry and the GIIN because the need for solutions makes our work more vital than ever.

The Board is focused on identifying a leader with the vision, experience and capabilities to build on the GIIN’s momentum so we can meet this moment. While identifying a successor who can build on Amit’s tremendous legacy will be no small task, the Board is confident in its ability to find the right leader to shape the GIIN’s next decade of impact.
