What We Learned from the Nation’s First Social Impact Bond

The nation’s first social impact bond, an evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy that has been effective in reducing recidivism in many other correctional settings did not work at Riker’s Island. As a result, it will be discontinued. This article explores lessons learned from the experience, as well as why the social impact bond financing mechanism is still labeled a success.
