This article highlights a new joint initiative between the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corp (MHIC) and the Conservation Law Foundation, to create the Healthy Neighborhoods Equity Fund. The USD 30 million private equity fund aims to provide patient capital to fund transit-oriented developments that would create walkable spaces and easy access to public transportation and economic opportunities, with the ultimate goal to improve quality of life and health of people living in these neighborhoods. The article also examines how the initiative is collaborating with other partners to create a framework to assess projects it considers for investment, and to measure their impact.
