"In 2008, a group of about 40 investors from around the world met to discuss what it would take for the impact investing industry to grow and solve more social and enviornmental challenges with greater efficiency. The cluster of investors organized a number of initiatives, including the establishment of a global community of leading impact investors and standardized performance metrics for assessing social and environmental impact."
