USAID, together with J.P. Morgan and the Gates, Gatsby, and Rockefeller Foundations, launched the African Agricultural Capital Fund to drive growth in East Africa's agricultural sector. All four anchor investors in this new fund are members of the GIIN Investors' Council, through which they collaborated to identify complementary social, environmental, and financial goals.
From original article:
"Besides targeting positive financial returns, the fund is also interested in having significant social impact through provision of employment, secure markets and improved products for smallholder farmers across East Africa."
