Swedfund is Sweden's development finance institution dedicated to reducing poverty through sustainable investments in developing countries. Its mission is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on decent jobs, climate, gender equality and capital mobilisation.
Swedfund's investments help create decent jobs and improve access to basic products and services, such as electricity and food. In developing countries, the private sector is responsible for creating nine out of ten jobs, making employment a crucial factor in lifting people out of poverty. As a long-term investor, Swedfund plays an additional and catalytic role by mobilising private capital through its investments.
With more than 40 years of experience, Swedfund has a proven track record of investing in and developing sustainable businesses in developing countries. It has significantly increased its investment volume in recent years and aims to triple its investments by 2030. By the end of 2023, Swedfund's portfolio amounted to USD 1 billion and included almost 500 companies.
