This Privacy Policy describes the processing of your personal information by the GIIN acting as a controller in the context of the membership portal. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before submitting your application and using the membership portal.
Information collected.
We collect and generally process the personal information that you provided in the context of your application, registration and use of the membership portal.
We may also collect personal information indirectly through third parties, namely the information regarding your professional experience publicly available on LinkedIn and the information regarding your participation to events made available by our event partners.
Uses of Information.
We process your personal information to carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from the contract entered into between you and us, in particular for the purposes of:

Sharing of information.
For the purposes referred to under this Privacy Policy, the GIIN may need to share certain personal information to recipients acting on behalf of the GIIN as processors. In this respect, the processors with which we share your personal information are third party service providers, in particular Salesforce which provides the relationship management tool and PICnet which provides the members’ directory tool for the membership portal, as well as different event partners which assists us in the context of our events (including event outreach, attendee tracking and communication).
International data transfers.
As the GIIN is located in the United States (as well as its service providers referred to above), your personal information needs to be transferred to the United States for the purposes referred to under this Privacy Policy, in particular for the conclusion and performance of the contract between us. Retention of your personal information.
The GIIN retains your personal information for no longer than is necessary for the purposes identified under this Privacy Policy.
The GIIN will keep your personal information for the duration of our contractual relationship extended by five (5) years. Please note that the GIIN will delete your information after two (2) years of inactivity on the membership portal.
With respect to the unsuccessful applications to the membership portal, the GIIN will keep your personal information for two (2) years after your last correspondence with us.
With respect to the processing carried out in order to protect our rights, property and security, as well as the rights, property and security of our membership portal and its members, the GIIN will keep your personal information for the time of the applicable statute limitation period or the time of the relevant litigation if any.
As to the processing carried out in order to comply with a legal obligation, the GIIN will keep your personal information for the duration of such legal obligation.
On the expiry of the applicable data retention periods, the GIIN undertakes to erase or irrevocably anonymize the relevant personal information.

You can review, update, or remove the information you included in your member profile by logging into the membership portal, visiting your member profile page, and making changes.

Protection of Your Information.
In order to protect your personal information, the GIIN has put in place what the GIIN believes to be reasonable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure your personal information. However, no assurances can be given that these security measures will prevent any unauthorized interception of or access to your personal information and, to the extent the GIIN has complied with its data security obligations under the applicable legal requirements, and in particular the European Regulation no. 2016/679 dated 27 April 2016, you hereby agree not to hold the GIIN liable for use of your personal information obtained in any unauthorized manner.
Privacy of Children.The GIIN does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of sixteen (16) or knowingly allow such persons to register with the membership portal. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under age of sixteen (16) without verified parental consent, we will delete that information from the membership portal.
Changes to Privacy Policy.
The GIIN reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time at its sole discretion by posting revisions on the membership portal. Such revisions will be effective immediately upon posting them and we will notify you in this respect. If such revisions requires your consent, you will have a choice to consent as to whether or not we can process your personal information in this different manner.
