In August 2016, the GIIN published The Business Value of Impact Measurement (BVIM), which highlights ways in which impact investors and investees utilize impact measurement practices to inform their business decisions and create tangible business benefits. As a companion to this report, the GIIN is publishing three cases that highlight specific impact investors’ applications of impact measurement and management practices throughout the investment process and how the resulting data informs decision making.
The GIIN views impact measurement and management as a critical component of impact investing. Each Impact Measurement and Management Case details the investor’s investment strategy, impact measurement and management practices, and use of data. These cases not only serve as examples of the various ways impact investors have integrated impact measurement and management into their investment strategies, but also reinforce the business value of these practices.
